BEST REDUCTION OF MATRICES TO THE BLOCK TRIANGULAR FORM
FOR HIERARCHICAL DECOMPOSITION PROBLEMS

Abstract. The author solves the problem of reducing several complex (generally speaking) n × n-matrices to the same block triangular form by a similarity transformation with maximum possible number of blocks on the main diagonal. The obtained solution may be used to apply the methods of hierarchical decomposition in the analysis of complex systems.
